My girlfriend’s birthday is coming up and somehow she has managed to never get herself a DVD player. Additionally her boombox is her only stereo and it is on the fritz. She is down to manually searching songs on YouTube and listening to her music through the seriously pathetic (really, trust me on that one) speakers that came with her PC.
Obviously she is not a gadget type of gal but don’t bother telling me to buy her a necklace or something. She really likes music and is missing out on all sorts of movies she has expressed an interest in seeing but unable to watch (no DVD).
So I figured maybe one solution to solve everything would be in order. Ideally something like the 3·2·1 Series III DVD home entertainment system would be perfect. Unfortunately it is Bose hence, while good, severly overpriced IMO. The cheap version of that system in $1,000. I like my GF a great deal but we haven’t been dating all that long yet nor am I wealthy enough to casually spend $1,000 on a gift.
So, anything else like that you think is worthwhile? Mind you I am seeking simplicity (she has a modest TV and no need for a 5.1 surround system or other obscure bells and whistles) as well as decent sound quality. If only my dog can appreciate the fidelty of the speakers you have overshot the mark.
Ideally I am thinking in the $300 range if possible but that is flexible.
It is easy to find good enough ones in the $300 range. My wife bought me a Pioneer system for about that much a couple of years ago. It works and sounds great for my needs. It came with a receiver, a DVD/CD/MP3 player, 4 small speakers, one speaker that goes over the TV and a bass speaker. It sounds cheap for everything you get to me. Go to Best Buy or the equivalent. They should have lots of such bundles. Ask questions but stick to your price range.
If she doesn’t care about the nametag,go to WalMart and get her an all in one [with a woofer] for under $300. They are in the electronics section. I bought one for my nephew there in the summer. I think I spent $250-275 bucks.
