I’m ordering some new furniture, and I want to get my carpets cleaned before it gets here. (I’m getting a leather sofa… yeah!)
Anyway, I’ve heard that the whole carpet cleaning biz is overrun with deceptions, bait and switch tacticts and downright lies.
What tips can you give me to ensure I get a fair deal?
I get a million offers in the newspapers, etc. Are those any good? Should I just go with a reputable company and expect to pay more? i.e. ServiceMaster or something like that?
Thanks for the advice!

Since my family bought our own rug cleaner, we haven’t had to hire anyone in quite some time so I can’t really help on that front…
But, with having our own cleaniner we can clean carpets (rugs now, since the house we’re now in no longer has carpets) whenever we want, and close after spilling something so the stains don’t set.
Depending on how large the carpeted areas you want to clean are, you may find buying the rug cleaner cheaper than hiring someone and more convient to boot.
