Need to find Sherlock Holmes' parody and a copy.

I once read a book which was a parody of S.H. All the cases were solved by Watson, but it was done so that S.H. would take the credit. It was a short story format. Does anyone know the name?

I also read several books and a series of short stories. The short stories are the closest copies of S.H. I’ve ever read. They were solved by a J.D. (or foresenic lawyer) with a side-kick. The J.D.'s name was Dr. T_______? Thurgood? Thurman? I think these stories were written by an American in the 20’s. Not Edgar Allen Poe. There were probably 40 short stories in all in 2 books.

Thanks in advance.

I know the first one…on the tip of tongue…

Arrrrrggggghhhhh Major, I have to study tonight and now I won’t be able to concentrate.

There was a movie like that called Without a Clue. Dunno if it was based on a book of the same name.

Are you thinking of the “Solar Pons” stories by August Derleth? These stories were narrated by Dr Lyndon Parker.

Major Feelgud,

Would you like a list of all the books in my collection of parodies and pastiches of Sherlock Holmes? I own more than 200 of them. I don’t know the specific ones you mention (since I haven’t read most of them), but perhaps looking at a list of them will jog your memory. E-mail me and I’ll send you the list.

Thanks, but no, I probably won’t be able to tell by looking at the names. I’ve read a quite a few SH parodies, but all of them were bad, except for the one that I mentioned.

Dr. Thorndyke?
