Needful Things by Stephen King - Almost everytime I’ve seen a reference or a review it says this is a bad book.
Can somebody explain to me why alot of people think that?
It was one of the first Stephen King books I read and I was very disappointed. Without revealing anything important, I found the “plot” banal, the pace slow-moving, the characters flat, and the violence overdone and gratuitous. It could have been an effective short story, but as a book it just didn’t work. The idea of possessions provoking jealousy in people isn’t even original.
Just a poorly written novel from someone capable of doing so much better.
I actually liked the book. The movie, on the other hand…
I agree, it should have been a short story. I found it long winded, unoriginal, and I don’t know, just tired. It seemed as though Stephen King was trying to write a “Stephen King” type book, and not trying to write a good book.
