I live in a purplish suburban development. Of the roughly 60 houses here, only one has had visible exterior Trump support – a TRUMP 2020 flag flying right under the US flag on a pole in front of their house. I’ve lived here just over a year and it’s been there all along.
Until last week. I happened to walk past and it was gone, leaving just the US flag.
I don’t know the residents, although from the cars in the driveway it’s clear at least one of them is a cop.
The obvious (from my POV) implication is that the residents finally saw or heard something from Trump – most likely with regard to the George Floyd incident – that made them realize they could no longer fly the flag and hope to peacefully coexist with their neighbors. But I would imagine that a cop who was already pro-Trump enough to fly that flag would be more supportive, not less, in light of Trump’s so-called law-and-order stance.
Assuming there isn’t some banal reason here (the flag got torn, etc.), what did Trump do or say in the last week or so that would make a pro-Trump cop less pro-Trump? Is this (dare I dream) the start of a trend? Or is there something else going here that I’m missing completely?
ETA: It just occurred to me that the department might have issued some sort of order against any political displays, even at private residences. Is there any reason to think that might be the case?
Fortunately, we’re in a very quiet area that’s miles from the nearest incidents. But I suppose it’s possible someone who’s over-the-top paranoid could figure better safe than sorry.
So you think a Trump-loving cop would back down after a slashed tire? Seems to me he’d probably get a *bigger *flag and sit on his porch with a shotgun waiting for the motherfuckers to try it again.
I know a house that is for sale and the guy next door has 2 big Trump signs up on a fence. Before that he had signs bashing Obama. One said “Obama wants us in chains” I guess the guying selling will have to find a MAGA buyer.
I thought it was George Soros, Jane Fonda and the Rothschilds doing the busing. (BTW, I’ve never seen Soros’ long-form birth certificate, have you? Makes you wonder, hunh?)
They still park their easily identifiable police vehicle in the driveway within easy view of the street. Taking down the Trump flag doesn’t make them less obviously a cop.
Still, I hadn’t considered fear of looters or rioters (or antifa assassins, ffs) when I posted the OP. Who knew Trump supporters were such chickenshits?
That would explain why Akaj’s neighbor might want to hide their cop car, which AFAICT they haven’t done, but not why they would take down their Trump flag. (ETA: ninja’d by the OP.)
