I find him to be delightful! Bright, funny, self deprecating… Everything I like in a man!
In case you didn’t know and would like to see more of Dr. Tyson, he hosted a 4-part special called “Origins” on PBS. I believe part 4 is available online at that link, and the whole thing is out on DVD. It will probably also be repeated sometime in the future, so watch your listings.
Check out his appearance on the Colbert Report in October 2005.
Both Tyson and Colbert are brilliant, but I’m giving the edge to Colbert because he keeps the interview moving along, keeps it hilarious, and keeps in character the whole time.
Colbert quotes in this interview:
“Why is there something instead of nothing?”
“Astrophysics is like jazz; it’s the notes they don’t play that matter.”
“[An asteroid that could wipe out mankind is] going to come before Social Security runs out? Maybe the President should be talking about that instead of renewing Social Security.”
“We’re all going to die in 2029? In the news business we call that a grabber.”
“So, we’ve covered the origin of the universe, we’ve covered the big bang, and evidently the extinction of mankind. [pause] I didn’t think we’d get through all that so quickly.”
“This is America’s Moon - we got there first!”
I must also add, OMG - they both look so young!
