It seems that Mr. Mandela thinks that: “If there is a country that has committed unspeakable atrocities in the world, it is the United States of America. They don’t care.”
Gee, isn’t this funny considering the American people are chiefly responsible for getting him released from prison and pressuring SA to end apartheid.
I can only assume that he reacted to 9/11 the way those Palestinians did, by jumping up & down and cheering.

However, Mandela has long been an opponent of U.S. foreign policy (which helped keep him in jail for far longer than it worked to get him out).
I think he’s certainly out of touch in his current remarks, but he was not “jumping up & down and cheering” after 9/11.
