Watching the Seahawks game yesterday I noticed that many of the players had neon green on their gloves and shoed. I noticed green dots on the back of a helmet. I figured it was just their uniform. But just now I noticed a green spot on the helmet of a Chargers player.
The green dot shows the refs which helmets have radio communications in them. There can only be one player per team on the field with the radio at any given time.
One of the Seahawk’s official team colors is “bright green”. It is the color of the “seahawk’s” eyeball (logo/helmet), also a thin line on the collar of the uniform. So many players and fans for Seattle wear green accents. I’ve noticed more and more fans in the stands wearing bright green knit caps lately. I assume some vendor at the stadium sells them.
And yes, the green dot is a new NFL rule concerning helmet radios and applies to all NFL teams. The Seahawks are lucky enough not to have it clash with their team colors.
There’s a long dissertation on the Seahawks’ neon color stylings at the UniWatch today.
For what it’s worth, you can clearly see the thin neon green uniform stripe in this photo. And here you can see the neon green accented shoes and gloves certain players choose to wear.
