NetFlix

I’ve been subscribed for about 3 weeks now and I’m noticing that some of the movies don’t seem complete. For instance “It” (King) doesn’t have some scenes that I’m sure I’ve seen elsewhere. The “It” i just saw was just a TV version of the movie (was there another?) without commercials, but without the “meat” put back in that the commercials cut out.
Is there a way to recognize these cut-up movies before I order them? I expect NetFlix to provide me with the complete movie.

Nope. “IT” was a made for TV miniseries. I don’t think they cut stuff out of made for TV movies.

I have had Netflix about three years now. I never had that issue. You do have to order the extras as an additional disc sometimes, but that depends on the studio that produces the DVD set.

Netflix is notorious for not carrying directors cuts or extended editions. I don’t know if that is your issue.

Well, yeah. If you want Criterion quality, you’re gonna pay for it…

IMDb says this under It’s alternate versions:

IMDb’s info is user-submitted, so it isn’t always 100% accurate. However, that tidbit may indicate that the DVD version is indeed a cut version. That’s not Netflix’s doing though, that would be the DVD distributor’s fault.

I guess for the price NetFlix charges I can’t expect too much. I did enjoy what I saw though. Oh well…

As the previous poster indicates the issue has nothing to do with Netflix or their prices. Netflix sent you the DVD that has been produced and sold by the distributor. It would be the same DVD if you purchased or rented it from a local store or purchased or rented it through the mail from someone other than Netflix.

Netflix rents Criterion Collection discs. There is no difference in your monthly charge for renting them.

Cite please, on the most casual search I find that Netflix has 2282 titles with the words ‘Directors cut’.

I have never heard or seen this complaint levied against them.

Though if you do the instant gratification watch online, some discs are the directors blabbing along about the movie OVER the dialog, so no love there - I have run into about 15 or 20 so far. Also, if it is a foreign film they probably dont have it subtitled…

Though I adore it, I set my workspace up at home so I work on one computer and have netflix running along on the other one instead of running the TV =) I love telecommuting.
