I use a Windows NT 4.0 network, but every time I open Network Neighborhood, I get a different number of objects (computers on network). Depending which machine I log on from, I can get anything from 80 to 450 computers on the network. Why isn’t it always the same number?
Give it some time. Assuming that all the machines are similarly configured, it takes time for each machine to browse the network.
Usually a single machine on a segment elects to be the “master browser”. Unless this is your machine, it will take some time for your machine to receive the full browse list. I have seen instances where over half an hour was required, when the segment included machines connected by a WAN.
