"neumotoras" - what disease is this (Cuban Spanish)

One of my friends in Cuba had to have an operation the Sunday after Xmas and another one 4 days later due to post op haemorrage.

The symptoms before the first op were very strong pain in the chest and breathlessness. The activity of this 1st op was removing liquid from the (airways/lungs? not sure of this bit)

I asked them what condition caused it and was told on the phone and by email “neumotoras” - have tried to find this but not on the net nor in my 3-inch thick Span-Eng dictionary. All I know for sure is, it is *not * pneumonia, could it be something like emphesyma or bronchitis, or pleurisy? Although it sounds like pukka-medical jargon, it might be a term to Cuba.

Would be grateful for any pointers. Thankee.

SORRY everyone for duplicate post above I’ve reported myself for the second post to mods.
