Neutralizing the Vanishing Point

Depth perception from binocular vision is actually much more limited than one might imagine. The stereo baseline of our eyes is very short. Experiments have shown that after a short range (on the order of 10m IIRC) all depth perception is based on visual cues such as ordering and apparent size. This is why optical illusions can be so effective.
