The repeated words ‘SPECIMEN’ are not going to be on the new $5 bill. It’s on the pictures so that dumb counterfeiters don’t get the idea to print out the photo and try and pass it off as the real thing.

I was a little shocked at the purple. It seems awfully…flamboyant. But I like it. It’s a step on the path to pretty money like those furriners have. And it will be easier to pick out a five from a stack of bills in a half-open wallet in a dark purse. I give it…five stars. Purple ones, in an arc.

OTOH, the asymmetrical placement of Lincoln is pretty good. I liked the series of bills that came out around 1998 that were all asymmetrical; I think they were the peak of design for US bills in the current style.
