Forgive me if this has been covered in another thread, but the new episodes ***will ***just appear in my Instant Queue since I have the (current, old) series there, correct? You don’t have to have a physical DVD plan?
Correct. It will be Instant.
Yep, instant only. I’m not sure if they ever plan to release DVD’s of their streaming shows in the future.
I just checked for House of Cards; it will be available on DVD next month.
Specifically, Amazon says that the DVDs will be released on June 11. The show premiered on February 1, so that’s about a four-month lag. Arrested Development is scheduled to be released for streaming on May 26, so the DVDs should be available by about October.
I would imagine they have to consider international distribution, as Netflix is not available in too many places outside of the US.
Your question is backwards. It should be: " New Arrested Developments will be on DVD, right? Not streaming only?"
House of Cards will be on DVD. No word on the older Lilyhammer. Netflix likes to leave DVD customers in the dust, lately. Who knows. Hemlock Grove doesn’t have anything clickable for DVD, either, but it hasn’t stopped them from advertising both on their mailers.
OT but related: The game Brütal Legend is came out for PC recently, almost 3.5 years after consoles!
Well, I gave up on their physical DVD plan years ago and much prefer streaming, so no I asked what I meant. ![]()
But yeah, I do hope they’ll also get a physical release (if they get pulled from streaming anyway…)
The stuff that gets pulled from streaming is the stuff that they’ve licensed from others, and the licensing agreements limit the time for which the shows can be available. The new Arrested Development episodes, on the other hand, are owned by Netflix so they can be available for as long as Netflix wants them to be.
Right. It wouldn’t make any sense to spend substantial amounts of money developing original content they can keep exclusive to Netflicks, and then only offering it for a short period of time. Aside from being some pretty neat content, being able to watch their original productions in one sitting the day it comes out or anytime thereafter is what differentiates Netflicks.
It’s Netflix, not “Netflicks”. Why do you deliberately misspell it?
Technically, they deliberately misspelled it first. I deliberately misspelled it again to even things out.
That’s silly.
It’s just a habit. I don’t even realize I’m doing it. www.netflicks.com loads perfectly, for instance. It’s what I always type in. Of course they insist on redirecting to netflix.com but that’s their business.
