There are a few sections online here. I only read these excerpts. I thought it would mostly be a whining bash fest, but it did have some depth to it re his take on the dynamic between Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie . Although her brother does come across as a bit of a bitch himself, you do (kind of) get a real feel for what it must be like to exist in that world.
The book does sound a bit interesting - however, I would take what he says about Madonna with a few grains of salt. He sounds like a bit of a drama queen himself. However, I am inclined to believe that what he says about Guy Ritchie is on the mark. I’ve never met the guy, but he does give off an uber-macho homophobic “I’m not gay, I swear!” kind of vibe.
I wouldn’t want to get into any fisticuffs with Madonna. Take a look at the second photo in the OP’s linked article - she has seriously muscular arms.
Is this Christopher? Please. I guess some people can’t wish their family well.
You know, I’ve only read the excerpts linked to, and I don’t pretend to know the whole story, but what precisely is the evidence that Guy Ritchie is a homophobe? A couple of his friends used the word poofter, and Chris and Guy had some sort of altercation on the dance floor, but really, does that mean Guy hates gays? Yes, he gives the impression of a manly man who feels pressured to live up to his elders, but that description includes a whole lot of people.
He might be a homophobe, I don’t know. But I sure don’t see anything here to prove–or even suggest it. He does strike me as an aggressive control freak, though.
BTW, Lock Stock is one of my favorite movies, and I’d dearly love to know how the hell Chris sees any homophobia in it. One guy says “poofs,” but he’s a bad guy who gets righteously slaughtered in the end. In fact, none of the characters in that movie are meant to come off well. It’s a bunch of dumbassed kids doing dumbass kid shit. That’s why it’s so funny.
It sounds like Chris has good reason to be pissed at his sister. “Don’t do business with family” is good advice to follow.
