Yes, I am posting this from my brand-new MacBook Pro!
After months of saving and scrimping, I went downtown after work and laid out my debit card and spent $2506.86 in 5 seconds. And now I have a new and working computer! And I can take it up north and to future clients! And it weighs 1/3 of my building-code book collection!
:: starts taking notes of questions to ask MacTech and the other Mac users on the boards ::
I bought my MBP last October, and Iβve had absolutely no regrets! Iβve used PCs since the early 80s, finally worked up the nerve (and the $$$) to make the switch. Iβm sure youβll be equally pleased with your decision. Take those video tutorials!
I have an iBook G4. Effing love it. Iβll probably get a credit card someplace and get a new, nicer one when the new OS comes out. I converted my best friend and her older sister into the world of Macs, they got a MacBook and MacBook Pro, respectively.
Nice! You have been talking about it for awhile β now you finally got it. Welcome to the brotherhood.
Of course, you realize you will now be spending more and more $$$:
A very good case: >$100
Parallels: $80
WinXP: ??? (have a license kicking around?)
Bluetooth MightyMouse: $60
Not-so-lame Text Editor: >$50
Remote Buddy: $10
PithHelmet for Safari (my favorite adblocker): $10
MS Office (unless you can manage with OpenOffice): $150 for Student & Teacher edition
Make sure to max out your memory β itβs pretty cheap to do so and you will need it if you are working in Parallels much.
I also bought an s-video adapter and cable, since our TV in the church accepts s-video, and I wanted to use it for presentations there.
