I realize this is totally partial, but I’ve stopped reading US comics on a regular basis when the whole future Image line-up started to appear in the pages of Marvel (Mc Farlane, Lee, Liefeld, even Larsen). I blame Image for the downfall of US comics. Why the hell would DC rehire those has-beens?
The descriptions of Blackhawk and Sgt. Rock seem a little similar, though.
Maybe I’m a little slow on the uptake, but I just read in Newsarama that the reboot will eliminate the JSA and all DC history. Superman will now be the first superhero, and he will have been active for only a few years when the new comics launch.
I hate this. The concept of legacies _ Jay Garrick to Barry Allen to Wally West or Ted Knight to Jack Knight to Courtney Whitmore _ is one of the defining traits of the DC universe, as far as I’m concerned.
I can’t imagine they’ll actually do that. They must mean something else by making Superman the “first superhero.”
According to the press releases, Supes was the first, and the JLA was founded approximately five years ago. Of course, this leaves open the possibility of there being previous non-powered “Mystery Men”.

The words they use do not always clearly convey what they intend to do.
While it’s true that the JSA book has been floundering for a while, it’s become pretty clear to DC, at least since James Robinson’s Starman series, what a goldmine they have in their older characters. They’re not going to throw it away entirely, I’m sure of that.
While noting that the modern members of the team might show up somehow. Not Jay, Alan, or Ted. Plus, it’s Newsarama. they don’t know crap.
