Wow, great map. I’m sure there’s some angry hombres out there. My favorite is the Russian army wandering in the middle of the Balkans.
I’d heard good things about Serbian cooking. Now what exactly is the deal with Italy, he must be holding a grudge from 1040 still.
Webpage is set up, AB shoot me a new map once that retreat is in and I’ll update things.
Oh and its not that Sunday is a big night, its that the rest of the nights have my sleep schedule matching that of your average New Zealander.
<slight hijack>
Some of the gang here at work have been watching the dip games here with interest and are keen to do a mini-game in the office.
Trouble is there are only five of us (at least initially)
Do any of you wise souls know if there is a decent five-player variant out there?
</slight hijack>
I personally am not aware of that many, but check at the Cat-23 site, Diplom.org, or do a google for “Diplomacy game variant” and you’ll find a number of sites that have various variations on variants. The Dip rules themselves make provisions for lower number of players by having certain countries (eg. Austria and England) be in civil disorder where the pieces don’t move)
If you do play, I highly recommend getting a copy of RealPolitik, a link to which you can find at the CAT 23 site. Sorry for no links myself, but this computer is obscenely slow.
Omni You’ll get a map when I get the retreat. Do you have RealPolitic? Since I am at work, I can’t generate a new map until tonite, when you’re probably at work. And I was being facetious about the Sunday night thing. I understand that Sunday and Monday nights are the slowest night for bars.
Well, Sailho2 has 4.
Classical, set in the Med, has 5.
Chromatic is surreal and has 5.
Ancient Med has 5.
Yeah. What exactly is the deal with Italy?
‘Show of trust,’ indeed.
Well, all I can say now is, fool me er… twice, shame on you. Fool me again and again and again… actually, please don’t.
Hey Lightnin’!
What’s that behind you!
England.
JC, that’s very kind of you to make sure that WL will have enough time to GM.
[anxiously awaiting countries in the 1099 beta version]
The abominable snow easterners have requested a delay to go sledding.
Deadline will be Tuesday at 5 pm CST. It may be extended further if anyone is out of touch a few days.
Carry on [sub]my wayward sons[/sub]
Deadline is tomorrow unless The Abominable Snow Chance is still buried.
Any word on him, Dave?
JC would like until Wednesday, s’il vous plait.
Done. Orders due on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Penalties will be enforced if they are in French.
Hey, don’t blame ME for the snow. It’s those wussball flatlanders who wigged out and blew everything up.
I also posted this in the 1099 thread, but for those of you in both games, do you care if both orders are due the same day? Some overlap will have to happen, unless we do weekend deadlines, but should we make any provisions for staggering them?
Remember that mine will always be due at 5 p.m. to allow for your heavy last minute dipping to be done at work, where you have more free time.
Has less impact on me since I’m only playing in one. I don’t care if they’re on the same day.
This war has been postponed due to the cold and flu season.
Fall 1903 orders are due Thursday at 5 p.m. CST
Winter 1903 builds are due Friday at 5 p.m. CST
After that, I’d like to get on the Monday, Thursday, Friday schedule.
You may continue.
And once again, they’re back on the same schedule…
… which, in reality, I don’t really mind since it will distract the people I’m playing against, just tired of the hoopla.
I don’t even remember who delays which game first any more. But 1099 has also been delayed until Thursday, February 20th, at midnight EST.
