Well considering that my first impulse was to reference The Flesh Doctor we do go down a path that aint so primrose. On the other hand, you can have cross overs to old bad American shows … the Flesh Prince of Bel Air for example …
Both are plausible explanations. I guess I just wanted to be sure a definitive answer hadn’t been provided yet.
You are right, I had had the terminology wrong. I can’t wait to see how this story arc plays out, but I too am going to be upset if the real Doctor dies and we are stuck with Doctor Double. It just doesn’t seem right. Even when Doctor Ten was split I was still aware that even though he had all the memories etc, he still wasn’t “The Doctor” it does give 10.2 the opportunity to show up sometime in the future though. However I doubt that will happen.
And further, we have two possible reasons for The Doctor to have been copied and none for Amy and Rory. So we should be good.

Mr. Lissar says:
There’s one more point I’m surprised no one else has mentioned. When everyone is waking up after the storm, Rory and Amy wake up alone in the goo chamber. When the doctor left them, near the apex of the storm, they were in the “sensor” room. I got the impression the sensor room was a fair distance from the goo room, as when Jenny gave lengthly directions to the Doctor.
So: when and why did they run over to the goo room? It’s not explicitly mentioned, and it could be a flub, but it could be a hint all the same.
Couple that with the other odd scene near the end where Goo Jenny is stalking real Jen. While she’s limping along we hear Rory calling out to her, but we know that Rory is with the Doctor and the others. Again, that’s either a production flub or a hint that there are two Rorys (Rori?)
I agree with many of the other speculations about something timey-wimey going on. I don’t know if you count it as a spoiler, since it’s in one of the preview clips on the BBC page, but,
they encounter some choking gas and Amy tells the Doctor that he told her to breathe earlier. He says something like, “Yes, very important to breathe,” and she says she’s having trouble. Since the original comment didn’t make any sense, but does in a future context, I think something’s wrong with time, or a crossed time line.
Also, the whole thing about, “If I don’t get a hold of that cockerel all Hell will break loose… I never thought I’d get to say that… again…” That was either a joke because because of the oddness of the line, or it’s timey-wimey.
In any event, we’ll all find out soon, and I personally look forward to being completely off the mark. As a parting thought, though, successfully staging your own death is one of the best ways to hide from someone, right? And we know the Silent was watching the picnic…
I’m pretty sure Rory went to look for Jen and is not with the Doctor and Amy.
Right, I’d noticed that as I watched, but somehow forgot about it again, thanks for the reminder. Yes, it does seem a rather conspicuous hint in retrospect…
Holy Mother of Fuck, Steven Moffat, do you know that children are watching this? Not the best episode ever, but hells bells, the best preview by miles!
Not that there is a preview, but this episode is one, at the end.
Holy mother of fuck,** Baron Greeback**, but do you know some of us have a time delay on the episodes?
What with all the hype and the initial comments leaking onto the internet from the UK I’m about to start tearing my hair out.
Just one question - does it live up to the hype?
There are some parts of this episode that are jaw-dropping. That’s all I’ll say.
I hope that doesn’t mean a jaw bone literally dropping off onto the floor.
Well, that does it. I love spoilers so I’m going to search out what happens in this episode.
Don’t worry though, I won’t post it.
I’m divided on the issue myself - it looks like I simply may not be able to see this episode for quite awhile. Do I say “screw it”, read the spoilers, and just enjoy the episode when I can get it, or do I hold back, drop off the Who threads here and elsewhere, and essentially never get the chance to comment or discuss this episode?
Poo.
No clue, but if you don’t want spoilers you drop out of the threads, then when you see the episode, re-join.
People comment on week old episodes all the time. Just a few days ago people were posting for a Community episode three or so weeks old.
Ah, but you see, sometimes it’s not just a week for me. In some cases I’ve missed an episode and it’s been years before I got a chance to see it. I don’t have a reliable way to get Doctor Who you see.
We watch it by finding a torrent, and we just finished watching.
Wow.
Really?
The emblem on the army general is the same as the one on the Bishop in Flesh and Stone. Also, when did the Silents switch Amy and how did they get flesh and and and and…
Damn it! I was going to wait until it airs next week, but now I can’t wait. I’m off to find it…
There’s a preview and prequel online but DON’T watch it if you haven’t seen The Almost People. The preview looks awesome apart from the return of a familiar foe one more freaking time.
I guessed the bit about the shoes for the right reason, but Amy at the end…holy crap.
(or should I say ?)
Also: “Smith”. Funny.
It’s just occurred to me that in this episode, if you think about it, they killed everybody BUT Rory in one form or another.
