Still, what happened when the Doctor went through the crack in Amelia Pond’s bedroom? The Doctor left the Universe Amy was in, and her remembering the Doctor brought him back into being.
How did that happen? At the very least, there are now two 11s, one who went through the crack and the one who wascalled into being at Amy’s wedding.
My favorite exchange from this episode (paraphrased):
The Doctor: “You have that look again.”
River: “What look?”
D: “That look that I’m hot when I’m being clever.”
R: “This is my normal look.”
D: (smiling) “Yes, it is.”
It’s at least as possible that he was called back from another universe… it seems a bit more plausible that Amy’s memories are capable of restoring what’s been lost to the cracks, than that they’re capable of bringing copies of things into being.
Cool with me. I guess spoilers are okay for the current episode? That would mean if you’re in the US this thread would contain spoilers as of Saturday afternoon.
<nitpick>Eight hours east coast, eleven hours west coast.
I did have one small problem with Saturday’s episode. The Doctor, et al, go to the intersection of Jefferson, Adams, and Hamilton at Cape Kennedy, Florida. River and Rory then explore the basement of the building.
This would be impossible. When my parents were living in Merritt Island, Florida, in 1969, they had to mow the lawn twice a week, because the water table was only eighteen inches down. You can’t have basements in coastal Florida, unless you really like them flooded.
Come to think about it: I have no problem with a big blue box that’s bigger on the inside, and can travel through time. I have no problem with aliens that you forget as soon as you don’t see them. I have a problem with the water table in florida.
Maybe the problem isn’t with the show, but my brane.
Yeah, I’m thinking it might be River too. The doctor asking her “What great hero did you kill to get put in jail?” His reaction to the space suit–something along the lines of “Oh it’s you.”
Joint UK/US/Canada thread sounds good. Unless there’s a US holiday weekend that might throw the pace off by a week? I seem to remember a missed week last year.
He’s always been quite believable at portraying a 900+ year old alien (despite being so young himself), but he did imbue the picnic scene with an extra degree of weariness. He definitely appears much older than he does in the diner.
Nope, it was him. Smith often stands with a bit of an “old man stoop”, there’s something about the slightly bow-legged walk and the way he holds his elbows that says “old”. In other words, he’s using the body language of an old man quite effectively, particularly if you can’t really see his face.
