New England Dopers Will Soon Get Historic Blizzard

From your lips to the weather gods’ ears. OK, it will probably be April!!

Albuquerque is varying between sun and snowstorms and if the storms continue it means lots of pretty flowers in the spring. It also means the squirrels stay in their holes longer with fleas biting them and there will be problems with plague next summer. (Few people ever die–the health department jumps like a ton of bricks if you even think you see a sick squirrel.)

Here in Buffalo it’s stupid cold. It never went above freezing for the entire month of February. The radio just said it’s the coldest month ever since they started keeping records.

Same thing for Ottawa.

It’s so nice to look at the long range forecast into the third week of March. Most of the temps are predicted to be in the 30’s with a couple of mid-40 days mixed in.

Winter is waning and Spring is on the way. Finally. I just hope the 200+ Spring flowering bulbs I planted in the Fall, can make their up through the snow.

We’re having a “wintry mix” today.
I was just outside & I could not stand my ground. There’s just enough pitch to the street that, even while standing absolutely still, I was moving to the other side of the street because of the freezing rain & gravity.

I saw mud on Saturday. You don’t really appreciate it until you have to do without for so long; beautiful, beautiful mud.

Walked past the window today and immediately said, “Oh, fuck me,” when I saw it was snowing again. Then I realized that if the snow was heavy enough to stick like that, it must have gotten warmer outside since yesterday. Snow at 5F is just dry icy powder, whereas the snow right now is all over every-damn-thing again.

I think Snownarok has finally driven me insane.

Just took the dog out and realized, It snowed again.

(This is in Maine. Where are you??)

This is a real thing? You have plague squirrels in Albuquerque? Or am I being wooshed?

New Mexico has hanta virus, plague. But they’re all over it, as KRC says.

 It’s not quite that warm yet, but yeah, making mud angels is the best!
(not really)

Yikes. I knew it was carried by rodents like house mice, but I thought it was relatively uncommon. I hope folks stay safe. I suppose squirrels are better than mice, though, since the former tend to stay away from humans and dwellings, unlike the latter.

Krusty the Clown: “Kids, we need to talk for a moment about Krusty Brand Chew Goo Gum-like Substance. We all knew it contained spider eggs, but the hanta virus? That came out of left field. So if you’re experiencing numbness and/or comas, send five dollars to antidote, PO box…”

Nothing better than breaking records, right?

Well, we didn’t exactly sprint over the finish line – we got maybe a couple of inches of very wet snow today. Although it did pretty up the snow banks which have been looking rather grungy for the past couple of weeks.

I’ve been talking with a few folks on this very subject. We were all hoping to break the record. I mean, once you get this close it would kinda suck not to.
