Snow!

8-14 inches of it by the time it stops, says They. There’s already a significant amount on the ground.

Someone said we got 11, but my guess is only around 7. Either way I’m hating it.

Forecasting 12-14" here north of NYC nefore it’s all over. Looks like we’re close now, and it’s hammerin’ down. Got to get out that camera and those snowboots…

I just poked my head out the door. We’ve got about 6, but it’s still coming down pretty heavily.

Fortunately, my brother stopped by yesterday to drop off a snow blower that his employeer was tossing out because it was “broken”. One new spark plug later, and I’ve got me a perfectly good snow blower. Gonna have me some fun later!

Seven inches and counting in Boston. The blizzard watch doesn’t expire 'til seven tonight, so we’re not even halfway through. I see snow shovels and hot cocoa in my future.

Man, NinjaChick, don’t get my hopes up like that. I figured you were back at school, and saying that New Mexico got a boatload of snow.

The Snow Gods have answered my prayers for two years in a row. Someplace else is getting Minnesota’s allotment.

All Hail the Mighty Snow Gods!

Now, if I can only entice the Goddess of Spring to make an early entrance.

All Hail the Glorious Goddess of Spring!

Channel 5’s now saying at least a foot, possibly more.

I was supposed to work this morning. I called in. Ain’t no way I’m going to attempt driving in this stuff

It missed us over here in NE Ohio - they were talking about 4-6 inches or so during the day yesterday(not anything compared to what you folks are getting, I know). Turned out to be a beautiful day - sunny in the morning, cloudy in the afternoon and I didn’t see a flake fall all day. We got a dusting overnight and are getting occasional lake-effect showers now, but I’m pretty happy that this system missed us.

We’ve got at least a foot here in Philly, and it’s still coming down hard. I just went out and did a preliminary shovel – damn, there’s a lot of snow out there. I live in a very hilly neighborhood that doesn’t get plowed, so my boss has been trained to know it almost always takes me a day longer than anyone else to get out after a big snow.

(I’m gonna save the cocoa for later – oatmeal now, yum, hot and filling and very satisfying.)

Here is a news story I read just before pulling up the Dope and finding this thread.

Woo hoo!!!

Here’s hoping for a snow day tomorrow.

Hey. Teachers like snow days just as much as the kids do.

We’re at 12" already. I am going to start on it soon. The drift at my front door might be 18". At least it is a light and fluffy snow. It should be easy to move.

Jim

I am enjoying my first snow day since High School. Since my employer (Home Depot) never closes for snow, I was still expected to be in at 11:00 this morning. But, my car is broken. I was supposed to take my future father-in-law’s SUV today but his daughter took it first (she also works for Home Depot). I called a friend who was working the same shift as me but he was apparently still sleeping off our bar trip last night. So, I called my boss. The lovely man told me that I was welcome to stay home. He said the store managers were trying to cut as many hours as possible and since I have already racked up 2 hours of overtime and 6 hours of travel time (from going to training), they would love for me to stay home!

I’ve actually used my unexpected free time very responsibly. I cleaned the kitchen and have done two batches of laundry. I also folded the laundry which has been hogging the couch for over a week, vacuumed, spot cleaned the rug and cleaned the bunny cage. Then, I took a shower. And, I’ve only been up for 2 hours and 15 minutes. All I have left to do today is relax and enjoy my freedom. I’m not sure what to do with myself now.

I do have to bake something for our bake sale tomorrow. But, I can’t get to the grocery store. I also need cigarettes but I can’t get to the convenience store. I’m hoping someone will come rescue me.

It’s a gorgeous, clear, sunny day outside today.

Nyah, nyah. :stuck_out_tongue:

(Of course, it does feel like -16 C out there…)

It’s stopped in Southern Maryland - I figure we got around 5" or so. The temps are above freezing now, and the wind is helping knock the snow off the branches on to the driveway that we shoveled. Stoopit wind. The plow has already come through our neighborhood - we’re good to go, as long as we re-clear the drive before the slush freezes.

Some pics if you’re interested.

Let’s see…clear and sunny, predicted high in the mid-80s…just another crummy day in Southern California.

Tch, Sil. It isn’t their fault they don’t live someplace where winter’s optional. Hm…the green shorts today, I think…

News says 20.5 inches here in East Brunswick, NJ. It’s still coming down, a bit. Bleech.

This is a mixed blessing for me. I’m not so fond of the cold as I was when I was younger. And this winter has been terrific up to now - temperatures not vey low, and sometimes almost balmy. But I have to catch crows this time of the year, and they won’t go into the trap at the landfill unless it gets cold/snowy. So I’ve been waiting for the cold to come, and when I heard this cold front was coming through, we started baiting the trap. Woohoo, gonna get some crows!

But first, I have to find my car, and dig it out. Bleech.

gotta love the nor’easter!!

groundhog was right… winter finally landed in philly. i ventured out to the wee market in the area. no eggs at all, but lots of milk. i saw one septa bus going down the parkway.

one plow went down a street in the 'hood. it created a snow wall on all the cross streets. there was a car sitting in front of the wall. not a happy driver! the honking has started. people were just looking at the car and shaking their heads.

there is quite a bit of beach damage at the shore.

rysdad, the groundhog closest to you says: “mild 6 weeks to spring”. for some reason, spike from duluth has not been heard from. don’t know what that may mean. http://www.groundhogcentral.com/
