New flag taxed?

I am replacing a 3x5 American flag that flys above my garage. I’ve read, and now can’t find, that the purchase of a new flag is not taxed, as in sales tax.
Anyone know a cite for this?

Depends on the state. I don’t think there’s a federal state sales tax exemption for flags.

Mainly because there’s no federal sales tax, and I don’t think the feds have any jurisdiction over state sales taxes.

Anyway, I just bought a new U.S. flag last weekend, and here in Connecticut, there’s no state sales tax on U.S. flags. Connecticut state flags are also exempt from Connecticut state sales tax. Other flags are not exempt.

Cite.

Last winter, I bought a flag that had flown over the US Capitol building. It was obtained through my Congressman’s office. And the form for it specifically included sales tax in the price.

In Missouri, Bibles (of all things) are exempt from sales tax. I find that somewhere between amusing and alarming.

you sure it’s not all religious literature?

Bibles are subject to tax. You go make your reservation in the hotel. Then you as you leave you put the bible in your suitcase. The bill says

Room $100
Occupancy Tax $10
Bed Tax $5
Other Tax $2

That “other tax” is really the tax on the bible you hooked
