New form of government?

I thought this thread was about forming a different government, not doing the same thing, again.

Excellent!!!
I agree, that so far, the discussion has simply been referencing the form of government we have, as i have not as yet, made any attempt to propose a "new’ form.

I have been attempting to define some terms, and garner support for agreement to those definitions.

No True Scotsman needs to be constrained to remain a True Scotsman. The Benevolent Dictatorship stops being a legitimate form of government when it is no longer Benevolent. I am against non-benevolent forms of dictatorships.

You asked for a better form of government and I provided one such option.

I don’t think you’re picking up what I’m putting down, son. I keep chuckin’em, you keep duckin’em.

How about: seats in Congress are bought by the highest bidder. Big corporations and really rich people get representation, and laws will be passed favoring their interest. It’s “democratic” to the degree that the people can pool their money and (maybe) buy a seat or two. The country doesn’t have taxes: if it needs money, it just opens the bidding again on seats.

I don’t like this idea! But it is kinda new! Has it ever actually been tried?

Could you try to make a fucking point while we’re still young? This could be an interesting discussion, perhaps you should step aside and let people actually have it instead of being cute and promising that you’ll eventually reveal some startling new ideas.

How, then, would a population of citizens, make the decision that the dictator was no longer benevolent???

shrugz.

Democracy?

No, however you are welcome to go sit outside and pout, if you are bored here.

There is usually a White Night in a neighboring kingdom who has his eye on the hot princess shut in the high tower.

Interesting. I don’t like it either, but it is interesting.

Keep that up and I suspect you’ll find yourself alone in a pasture. Just sayin’.

Basically you resort to fantasy?

OK, onwards.

I did say, “The End”.

I am not much interested in discussion with people that have no intellectual interest in the topic, and no honesty in that interest.

Speaking of “government”, requires that we understand what exactly government is.
It also requires understanding what representation, is.

Those two foundational concepts are the crux of delusion foisted on people for millennia.

As long as people are satisfied, and accepting of the lies the cult programming establishes in place of reality, they will remain deluded, and incapable of comprehending their delusions.

For instance, take the delusion, that we have, “representative” government.

If that is true, then humans, here in the USA must be REALLY shitty uncaring and evil monsters.

It’s not true. shrugz.

I’m not much interested in a serious conversation with someone who is two replies away from a post that includes some form of “Wake Up Sheeple!”.

Excellent, because that is not where i am going.

We’ll see.

If we want to replace our form of government with a superior form, then we’d BETTER START developing testing and proving a better one FIRST.

OTHERWISE, we end up with another idiotic stack of politicians and lawyers.

Instead of accepting the corrupt, ineffective system we use, continuing to incite division and discord, we COULD use science, the methods of science, to develop, and test better systems of governance.
I am NOT suggesting that scientists should run government.

I am suggesting that we apply our scientific method to the problem of governance, instead of just accepting that what a bunch of guys with elitist agendas decided to use over 200 years ago, is the best and only system we could possibly consider.
We can do better, we should do better, we simply have to make the effort to make the effort.

I suggest the following:

Longer term limits and no re-election. Give them 5-7 years and take away the time that is wasted by trying to get re-elected. It might also be good in order to avoid political dynasties and the building of powerful networks.

Higher salaries/pensions for presidents, prime ministers, chancellors, ministers, members of parliament/congress, etc. This will hopefully ensure that people are well off enough to not be influenced by lobbyists/their own desire to fill their pockets. If a president/prime minister can prove that the country is better off after his reign, then give him/her a fat bonus!

More accountability. If the potential rewards are high, so should the potential punishments. If it is proven that someone abused their political position or made decisions that were too expensive or cost too many lives, make them pay for it.

No political appointments (judges, ambassadors, etc.). I met two American ambassadors and they were totally unqualified for their job. Let professional choose the right people. Sure, there will still be infighting, but the chance to have qualified people in top positions should be increased.

I only heard about this in US politics, but the policy of adding bills to a different bill in order to get unpopular ideas through the system or water down the original bill is idiotic and counterproductive. Please tell me if I misunderstood the way that this is handled.

There needs to be some kind of independent supervisory board that translates politics into normal language. They should tell the public for instance what the Health Care bill is about and what results can be expected. They should also have the authority to stop politicians to lie about the impact of certain bills, etc.

I also don’t like the idea that everybody has the same number of votes. I pay taxes, am kind to dogs and old ladies, and yet my vote has the same value as the vote of a skinhead who beats up people. Maybe the old Prussian system that there are different kinds of voting classes? Or maybe everybody needs to take an exam before being allowed to vote? Really not sure at the moment.

Since the OP has stated his intention of abandoning this thread in order to “continue trolling” in the Pit, I’ve banned him and am closing this.
