Yeah…that was bad. Not battle goat bad but it’s up there.
Well, they got the original Ghostbusters wrong in the first 15 seconds of the trailer: “30 years ago…four scientists saved New York.”
Uh, no three scientists and a guy they hired saved New York.
Winston was a scientist! If there’s a paycheck, he’d be anything you want!
At least with these new set of characters we won’t have to worry about them crossing the streams.
That was a solid…meh.
I’ll wait until it comes out on TV and probably end up watching something else anyway.
Oh but imagine what it would look like if they tried!
Seeing this shit will turn you WHITE!
IMDB has the original cast, so I’m guessing it’s a “soft reboot”. Sort of like X-Men. Same exact story told in the same universe, but with a different set of actors.
Other than that, it basically looks like:
Leslie Jones playing a mad black lady again
Melissa McCarthy playing a bumbling socially awkward fat lady again
Kristen Wiig playing a mousy skinny lady again
Kate McKinnon playing a crazy white lady again
I love Leslie Jones so I’m looking forward to this. Maybe I’m a fan of that loud angry black woman shtick.
One of them said something about someone creating a device that amplifies the paranormal. It there is a human villain that would definitely suck :(. I agree that it doesn’t look promising.
The trailer certainly implies it’s set in the same continuity as the original films, but trailers are made by marketing people not anyone who actually made the film. Either way I’m still looking forward to it.
Leslie Jones was the only thing I thought worth watching there. It’ll do okay at the box office I think, I’ll watch it eventually. It could be a lot better than the trailer indicates, more likely it could be a lot better than it is.
It looks… okay? I guess? Nothing about it made me think “I want to drive somewhere and pay ten bucks to watch this”. Nothing made me actively hostile towards it either so I guess I’ll see it when it’s on FX ten times a day.
I’m fine that they made them all women, I really am, but that trailer looked like the movie I have already seen dozens of times except not funny.
I was willing to give this reboot an honest chance, even though the original is one of the very few “perfect” films that needs no reboot…
…until I watched the trailer…
Sorry, not interested at all now, sure, the ghost effects are fancier now and “slicker” but the movie seems to be missing the “heart” and warmth of the original, the original cast had chemistry and played off each other well, the reboot? Mostly a bunch of unpleasant people mugging at the camera, making bad jokes and screaming…
Oh, wait, that’s just NYC…
If I want to experience a new Ghostbusters, I’ll just boot up the old Xbox 360 GB game instead.
Maybe the whole bunch of negative comments here left my expectations so low, practically anything in the trailer would surprise me nicely, but it was… fine? Maybe it gives a bit too much away of the possession scene, but it looks nice, I like the actors and, more importantly, it’s got Slimer- what’s not to love?
This is me. If it was a proper sequel, and maybe written by someone other than Paul Feig, I wouldn’t care who was in the team, as long as it was canonical and fun. This is clearly neither.
There were no Bill Murray “mic drop” lines. The whole architecture of the original was structured around the pillars of his lines. If you need to be reminded of them, you’re in the wrong thread!!
I had assumed that Melissa McCarthy was the Murray type, but nothing she said came close. She’s capable, but the material wasn’t there.
If they don’t bring that kind of Funny, forget it.
I did not notice a Mrs. Stay Puft. Count me as disappointed.
There also seems to be no Sigourney Weaver or Rick Moranis counterparts. I haven’t heard of any, anyway.
I was really looking forward to this, but the trailer looked bland and was not funny. I’m very disappointed.
