Typical Chessic Sense, going off on an anti-liberal rant because he doesn’t understand a thread.
So you are personally guaranteeing to pay for every uninsured person in the US out of your own pocket?
Regards,
Shodan
Yes. That’s exactly what I said. Well done.
It makes as much sense as interpreting “when does my coverage begin” as “nobody deserves insurance except me”.

Shodan
Let’s see what Andy has to say about healthcare, shall we:
(bolding mine)
Clearly - Andy is being consistent. He definitely doesn’t want to expand government-run health care - he said it right there. Now sure, he wants it to start sooner and cover more for himself and his family. But he definitely doesn’t want to expand it.
My health insurance started on day one of my current job.
Oddly enough, I work for the government. (Specifically the state university.)
Is this thread, or is it not, about supposed Republican hypocrisy because he wants health insurance for himself but not for others?
What Shodan said.
Yes. Yes I am. And you know, I’m kinda cool with it.
Welcome to the beauty of Universal Health Care. Where I get to feel good by looking out for those you don’t give a shit about.
If I personally disagree with a program it should only funded out of your personal savings account HUR DURRRR DERP
Wow, I thought she was being ironic.
Hilariously, you can *only *remove pre-existing condition limitation by mandating that everyone carry health insurance at all times. OH SHIT OBAMACARE.
ETA:
“She”? I thought **Chessic **was a dude.
So you are against a progressive tax code to pay for Obamacare?
Because, at the very least, you cannot be suggesting that other people besides yourself should bear a disproportionate part of the costs.
The instant you start to talk about raising taxes on the rich and spending the money on the uninsured, you are not volunteering to pay for health care out of your own pocket - you are paying for it out of someone else’s pocket. Which is hypocritical, if you claim to be willing to pay for all this yourself.

Shodan
Why do you assume Ender isn’t rich? The last (admittedly unscientific) poll on the subject revealed that the median Doper income is roughly doubly the median US household income.
Where did you send your check to the govt for developing the Internet? I want to pay for it out of my own pocket too.
Someone should really let him know that most people wait 3 months for health coverage. He does not seem to be aware of that.
No. No. I said Universal Health Care, not :shudder: Obamacare (God I hate that term).
Making the rich pay a proportional percentage of taxes to pay for government services that both directly and indirectly benefit them and their familes is no more unfair than forcing the rich to pay a higher amount of taxes for property merely because they happen to live in a larger house that costs more.
And now we spiral into the tangent of the great insurance debate. So let me attempt to right the ship before it’s too late.
I think both sides of the debate can agree that this Freshman Congresman is complaining against his employee insurance program that his employer provides. The guy can couch it in terms of “government is evil” all he wants but it basically boils down to a dispute over benefits. One side is saying “we completely agree with you! It sucks that you’ve got to go 30 days without insurance. Here’s a solution where NO ONE has to EVER go any time without insurance and it would solve the exact problem you’re having.” What’s awesome is that the solution to it is exactly what this guy is against implementing.
And that’s where he’s being hypocritical. He demands for himself a solution which we’re asking for everyone to have but that he’s against (except so much as it benefits him).
In a word, bullshit. You claimed you were willing to pay for the uninsured yourself. Now you are arguing that someone else should pay for it, at least more of it than you do.
Again, bullshit, pure and simple. As already pointed out, “when does my coverage start” != “no one else should have coverage”.

Shodan
Here Shodan demonstrates such awe-inspiring stupidity, ignorance and general cotton headed-ness that I think we should take a moment to poke it with a stick.
[ol]
[li]Someone is okay with higher taxes for UHC. [/li][li]That person (according to the defective clot of shit that Shodan somehow uses as a brain) is then necessarily against a progressive tax code.[/li][li]???[/li][li]Hypocrite!!![/li][/ol]
This part is probably true.
Also true: “when does my coverage start” != what he said. From the Op itself:
And just to be super duper clear - he didn’t ask when coverage kicked in. He demanded to know why it took a month to kick in. Many - although clearly not all - would infer from this demand a desire to have his healthcare kick in sooner than a month. A desire which would, necessarily, expand government provided healthcare over what it currently provides.
