Get two of them, and you can feel like Yosemite Sam!
Fuck yeah. nice.
The one I bought is actually from a matched pair. The dealer, who I cannot help but consider something of an ass, broke up the set by selling off my gun’s mate the previous day. I’d like to get the mate but don’t see myself tracking down the owner and trying to coax him out of it.
Nice gun! I’ve got a Vaquero in .45 Long Colt that I don’t shoot nearly enough…
Is there a difference between .45 Long Colt and .45 Colt? I’m drooling over a Colt Peacemaker in .45 Colt - would love to buy one.
From Wiki:
But I’m still calling it .45 Long Colt.
the name comes from when the army was issuing both the SAA and the Schofield. The Schofield took a slightly shorter .45 cartridge that could be used in either gun. At first, the army carried both cartridges in inventory with the SAA cartridges packed in boxes marked “.45 long, Colt” to indicate they were the longer cartridges that could be used only in the Colt pistol. Eventually, they dropped it from inventory and used only the slightly shorter sSchofield cartridge. Or so said an article in one of the major gun magazines back when there was no internet.
Thanks guys. I imagine a gun like that would make me feel like a 19th century cowboy, as like when the OP says a Ruger Bisley Vaquero in .357 magnum would.
I was thinking about this thread. The stainless steel in 5.5 as a matched pair would rock in walnut stocks and .357 ACP. Yeah, yeah, wrong state, wrong century.
Me too. You say “.45 Colt” and 90% of the people who know anything about firearms will think you mean ACP.
public apology I said ACP when I meant caliber. Yes, ACPs are for automatics, not for the revolvers mentioned by the OP. It reminds me of a scene from a movie from the 80s called “The Survivors”.
Donald: Jaaaack?
Jack: Yeah?
Donald: Time out, OK?
Jack: Time out?
Donald: Time out.
Jack: What do you mean, ‘time out?’
Donald: You’re not gonna believe this. I was in a hurry when I left the cabin this morning, and, well, silly me, I got the wrong bullets…
Yeah, there’s an “oh shit” moment. He’s feeling pretty naked about that time.
Recoil shouldn’t affect accuracy, unless you’re flinching in anticipation; possibly it’s that the revolvers you’ve shot had too high a trigger pull and you couldn’t pull cleanly. Or do you mean a pistol just being too long and heavy to keep the sights on target?
That’s a main reason for missing the bull, anticipating the recoil. That’ll usually move the bullet strike down.
Anaamika’s rounds going “all over the place” tell me there are several things going on, including sight picture/alignment, trigger control, grip…
And, I’m not sure she’d ‘kill the dude, eventually’. He might keep coming after her and close the distance. He’d be wounded, but mortally? I’m not convinced.
