This is a fun place with lots of people knowledgeable on every imaginable topic. We discuss flying (with and without airplanes), history (stuff that happened, stuff that never happened, stuff that will happen tomorrow), languages (translations, including from different, extinct, and made-up alphabets), movies, books, recipes, pets (health, cute antics, nicknames), surgery (yours and everyone else’s), other medical procedures (colonoscopies are a favorite), techie shit, and you can also find a thread on "what does normal poop look like? (human, canine, feline, and others). Speaking of poop, lots and lots and lots of politics. In the proper places.
No topic is too common, too obscure, too boring, or too Dope-y. There are grammar police here, as well as shameless punsters, along with bad spellers and people who have never located their shift key. Many are hilarious and insanely witty (or just insane), and I often laugh hysterically in public places while reading the board on my kindle. I get pity looks, but haven’t been asked to leave. Yet.

After thirty thousand posts on the David Icke Forum, I was finally banned for calling bullshit on Icke’s theories.

In the Pit, they can. Elsewhere, the basic idea is “attack the post(content), not the poster”. Example:Someone can say your defense of Communism is wrong but they can’t call you a filthy Commie.
In the pit, sure. But they’ll be roasted alive by the rest of us for that kind of stupid.
Edit to add that we do have hate speech rules, even in the pit, so if someone decided to go on a long rant about you being queer, they likely wouldn’t be long for this board. Besides the total and complete nuclear roasting from the rest of us.
And don’t forget this is an international forum with posters from all corners of the world. So if you feel like insulting Lower Patagonia or Outer Bumfuckistan, chances are you’ll get a swift kick in the nads by the teems of locals who inhabit those places.

But on the plus side, while people are insulting you (or someone else), they’re usually using really big words (spelled correctly), often from passages in classic literature. There were a couple of poetic insults based on lines from Richard II in the Trump Clusterfuck thread today. I really enjoyed them.
Here we just think “Damn, this kid’s hipper than I* am in three different ways.”
*(note the subjective case…yes, we have grammar SS officers here. We care more about your spelling than your lifestyle)
