First song of what’s intended to be a new playlist (“album”). I wrote “Waves” in 1982 when I was 23. This recording is from 2 weeks ago. The song has been on my mind because it is featured in my autobiographical book Within the Box and is specifically about being there (in the fancy rehab facility) and trying to open myself up to the possibilities and to have the courage to be vulnerable. It’s an attitude that didn’t last, but I did go in hoping for a good experience.
