3 issues into the new “New Mutants” series, and I was wondering if anyone else has been reading it and had any thoughts to share.
I was a huge fan of the old series growing up. The X-Men were cool, but they didn’t have that teen, 80’s angst. (Kitty just whined, the New Mutants had angst)
The new series is 3 books in, and has reintroduced Dani Moonstar and Amara (who was renamed, but I don’t know why yet. I must have missed something in the X-Force books. They’ve also begun introducing new characters, kids going to the school. None of the crossover kids from “New X-Men” yet, but I’m sure they’d turn up.
So far, I’m liking the series, and prolly will so long as the nostalgia factor holds out.
for the Amara thing, if i remember well, it was found some time ago that her real name was Allison and that she was an english girl kidnapped by Selene for her fake ancient Rome in Amazonia
Anyway, I like the new series – it’s kind of got a similar vibe to the original; they’re just kids hanging out, y’know? Right now they have no expectation that they’ll be involved in saving the world.
BTW, there’s a creators’ shuffle going on in the art teams over the next few months:
