I’m heading down to New Orleans in a few weeks. My friend just got married, and it would not be legal to have three of us in his vehicle; so I need to rent a car for a week (or so). He’s checked Enterprise, and it looks like we can get one for a week for $200.
Any deals better than that? FWIW I have a AAA card, and I got my airline tickets on Alaska Airlines with my Alaska Airlines credit card. Discounts, maybe?
Thanks in advance.
Enterprise is pretty big in the New Orleans area, but if you’re coming here through the airport, there are several different options in that vicinity.
According to flymsy.com, car rental places near the airport besides Enterprise are Alamo, Avis, Budget, Hertz, National and Thrifty.
All of my experience with car rentals in New Orleans is with Enterprise and I’ve never had a problem with them.
Away from home, I’ve only used Hertz…they were always out of the car I had reserved and I always got a free upgrade to a Luxury car (but this wasn’t at the New Orleans Hertz agency, so I have no information specific to New Orleans).
I was just in New Orleans with a large group of friends, several of whom rented cars (I did not) and I would certainly recommend giving Priceline a shot…
Everyone that used Priceline saved $$$ over those who went directly thru a rental agency, some a significant amount, some a few bucks.
As for me, I used Priceline for my hotel, and got an amazing deal at a really! nice property (Intercontinental) for less than others got Motel 6 type places.
There are a few tricks to getting a great deal with Priceline, but I have always had good experiences with them.
Enjoy the New Orleans, one of the greatest cities (if you enjoy music, great food, amazing history) in the world!!!
I regularly see renatal ads listing rentals for $19.95 a day, so I imagine you ought to be able to get a better deal than that. But this isn’t based on any specific knowledge about NO.
It takes a bit of legwork, but often you can save a lot (50%) if you rent away from the airport. The rental car locations at the airports charge extra fees and taxes that the offsite locations do not. It really depends on the area, but I have saved a lot by taking a taxi to an offsite location. If it’s a short rental, the cost of the taxi might eat up any savings.
I got a garrett at Degas House for $50/day, which is pretty good.
I’ve never used Priceline. Any pointers?
We use Enterprise for in-state business travel and have always been pleased with them overall.
