So I replaced my router the other day. It works like a honey. The only thing I can’t figure out is why my MacBook Air now seems to be constantly downloading. With the old router, if I wasn’t actively loading a web page or streaming something, MenuMeters would show a paltry few KB per second coming into my machine. Since this new router got into place, I’m taking in a constant stream of around 55 KB per second, even with no apps running. I even killed Google Music Manager (a horrible program/service) and it’s still going. Can anyone recommend a tool to tell me precisely what process is taking up this bandwidth? Activity Monitor shows the network usage without specifying what’s using it. Thanks!
Hard to see how a new router could have such an effect, I suspect it’s a coincidence. Do you have another machine of any sort you can plug into the same router? If, as I suspect, it does not have the problem you have a Mac issue instead most likely. Could it be as simple as downloading OS X updates or something?
