When our Sara was a kitten, she would lie on her back on the desk while I was here at the computer and bat at the dangly chain from the desk lamp. But then she’d get sleepy, and would try sooooo hard to not fall asleep until finally she was just overcome, practically in mid-swipe.

Awww - that’s about the cutest little troublemaker I’ve seen in a long time. You can see the pixie spirit in her eyes - it looks like you managed to snap the shots between her getting into/onto/out of something.

I was thinking of calling her “Jaws” since she bites so much. .

The shark was named Bruce, after Stephen Spielberg’s attorney in the early and mid 1970’s.

She is profoundly adorable. I grew up with Siamese. I’ve always had cats, we have four in the house now. They are great cats, but I swear that none hold a candle to Scooter and Sasha. Man, I miss Siamese.

And congratulations on reconnecting her body to her head. Great work !!

Their eyes also shine red when you shine a light on them, unlike normal cat eyes that shine a kind of blue-green color. This is because the gene that causes Siamese blue eyes is a form of albinism, so the tapetum lucidum (the reflective surface at the back of the eye) is lacking the normal pigments.

Our elderly white cat has one blue and one yellow eye – the one glows red and the other glows green in flash photos. Judging from her build and (especially) voice, she’s probably part meezer.

Another interesting thing is that with most cats, they are born with blue eyes that change to some other color, but their fur color never changes. Siamese are exactly the opposite. The eye color will neither fade not darken, but the dark fur gradually spreads from the nose, ears, tip of tail, etc., to the rest of the body, although the points are always darkest.

“Points” result from a mutation in melanin generation that makes it temperature-sensitive – only the cooler portions of the body develop it fully.

Awww, cute little Brucie. What a great name for a little Siamese girl! Jim’s cat is part Siamese, too, and he was going to name her Bitey (or Yappy Cat). I guess those are dominant traits in the Siamese line. She still bites way more than the average cat - you just learn to stay away from the pointy bits on these cats.
