New Staff Reports?

I’ve noticed for the last few weeks that the SD front page’s “Recent Additions” has had only the weekly and Classic columns, no new Staff Reports.

My hunch is that this related to Dex, who coordinates Staff Report assignments and preparation, having had to take time off. But of course I don’t know that for sure.

Any comments on the issue from relevant staff? (Oh, and I debated on whether this belonged in ATMB or CoSR; I opted for the latter but wouldn’t have the slightest objection to its being moved if I guessed wrong.)

It’s not an especially new phenomenon. Staff reports have been running far less frequently for some time now. I have a few educated guesses about the reasons, but I’d rather not speak for those who really know. I can tell you that this change:

  1. Predates Dex’s hiatus;
  2. Seems unrelated to a lack of staff reports (we have several in the queue right now); and
  3. Is probably related to the appearance of the Straight Dope Chicago columns–you might notice that we don’t run a Staff Report and Straight Dope Chicago in the same week.

No, actually, it’s that the Editor(s) of the Staff Reports (READER staff plus Ed) have been too distracted with too many other things. I’ll see what I can do to nag a bit more. THere are Staff Reports written, in the queue for editing, that have been there a lonnnng time.

It’s an editorial issue. It has nothing to do with things here.

Thanks, guys, for the info. :slight_smile: It was a curiosity thing – I enjoy staff reports a lot.
