We’re getting a new stove today. If it were you, what would you bake first? I’m planning on blueberry scones. If the blueberries don’t ripen by tomorrow, I’m breaking out the frozen ones from last year.
Oh, and if any Cleveland Dopers want fresh blueberries, let me know and I’ll tell you when you can come pick them yourselves!
Don’t make anything that requires precise temps. You might gat a stove that is off by a few degrees. Make sure you put a thermometer in it to confirm temps until you get the new appliance “wired in” to your cooking patterns.
Brand new? Run it empty for 30 mins. or so, to burn off the oil-and-chemical fumes. During that time, you can hang your thermometer in there to find if the oven settings are a little off.
Well, now we’re not getting it until tomorrow. There is no shut-off valve at the connection behind the stove. They didn’t need one when they installed it twenty years ago, but now the rules say you’ve gotta have one. So the plumbing company guy is coming tomorrow, and then they will try once again to deliver the stove. Should be able to bake something by Friday…after the initial burn-off…we weren’t going to skip that.
