Looks like Runes of the Earth will be available on 10/12. I’m a little curious that Donaldson is revisiting The Land. Anybody heard anything about this?
I hope this doesn’t mean I’m going to have to go back and re-read the first 6 books. Sheesh.
I posted about this last week and am eagerly awaiting the new release while simultaneously dreading the probable year-long wait for book 2.
I think the new George R.R. Martin book is due out soon, and I’ve effectively forgotten most of the plot threads from that series. Big ice wall, some of the protagonists died…I need a cliff notes site badly.
I HATE THE WAIT (but still prefer to read series). Doh! :smack:
I’m wondering about this book myself. Covenant is, erm, well, not available at best, and dissipated at worst. The White Gold has been passed on to Linden Avery, who has proved herself very powerful and also handy with the Staff of Law. Despite is defeated. Wild magic was revealed to be intrinsic to the Arch of Time (IIRC), solving that particular problem.
Who will be the protagonists? Linden is going back to the Land for some reason, but I wonder how. And how on earth Covenant will feature at all, given what happened in White Gold Wielder, I just don’t know. I guess they will probably have to break the Law of Death (again) for Covenant to appear. Or perhaps he is now a part of creation and will make his appearance as a supernatural counsellor…
Donaldson certainly is imaginative, so I am sure it will all make sense, eventually. Apparently this series is a quartet of books, a departure from the previous trilogies. Either he is shrinking the size of the novels, or he has a lot planned for the new series… I hope he returns to that ponderous and elephantine writing style, I actually enjoyed it a lot more than his more recent writing.
I’m sure Donaldson fans will quaff this one down like a sapid draught of clinquant roborant … Me, I’ll wait for the paperback, if I bother at all.
unwashed brain, sorry I missed your thread. My searching skills here are apparently non-existent. (I did look, I promise.)
