I saw it yesterday and I’d give it a C. While I DO see a lot of movies, I’m into them for the entertainment, not for any advances they may make in the art of film making. In some ways, this movie reminded me of my opinion of French movies from a decade or two ago. French movies (IMHO) would often start and introduce the characters, then they would go along for a little while. At some point the movie would just STOP, it wouldn’t END. Nothing would have been resolved. Nothing would have changed.
That is my criticism of Vicki Christina Barcelona. The movie starts, goes a long for a while (in which some things DO happen), but then the movie just STOPS. There is no real resolution and there are no real changes in the characters. Everything just kind of goes on as it did before.
On the positive side, watching ScarJo and Penelope lip-lock was mildly entertaining, but it didn’t make up for the rest of the movie.
As usual, this is IMHO, and YMMV.
