The SDMB is apparently so small on that map we don’t even merit a mention. Even the measly, barely there datalounge forum dwarfs us.

It’s interesting to compare it to his first one . An amazing amount has changed in 3-1/2 years.

Do remember that that one is based on membership, not usage as the new one is.

A middle-aged woman who sits near me at work is obsessed with Farmville. I suffered hundreds of hours listening to her phone people to get them to do Farmville stuff for her during the day. Thank God she bought herself an iPhone so she could look after her “farm” while at work. From what I overheard it sounds very, very silly.
Do they have Petville on the iPhone? Because my parents are obsessed with that. My dad also likes racing games (like Mafia, but no killing), while my mom likes her little Happy Aquarium.
I, on the other hand, avoid all Facebook games, except that I let them create an pet for me in Petville to give them a new neighbor. But they handle it entirely.
I liked my thread title better. I didn’t see “XKCD” on the front page anywhere, so I started the thread myself.
Merge? Oh well, here’s what I posted:

I found LiveJournal & OKCupid, but I don’t think the SDMB or webcomic fora–some of the sorts of forums I’m most long familiar with–made the list.
It’s not that we’re so small, it’s that the internet is so very, very big.
Also, what the hell is Farmville?
That would be http://www.big-boards.com , unless you’re talking about how we rank in sales of dry-erase markers.

Even in expanded view it was hard for me to read some of the smaller print. Is there a Lost Valley (or (Island) of dialup BBS users, or has that vanished from the ken of man altogether? (or would that be part of the Charred Wasteland of Abandoned Social Networks?)
ETA: duh, that wouldn’t be the Internet :smack:

I really wish he put a little dot in the middle of MySpace and labeled it “Tom”.
I think the SDMB should get added weight for longevity. This site has been continuously active for over ten years - that’s like a couple of centuries in internet time.
Short story - it’s a free online game where people can manage simulated farms.
Hey - I made my quota. Get off my back, already.

I do like the big lava lake in Facebook with the tiny island in the middle labeled “Privacy Controls”, though.
Maybe near “Grass Mud Horse” Bay?

Awww…
No Lord of the Rings Online or Star Trek Online on MMO isle.
I’ve known for a while that we’re not all that, but I was surprised at the lack of /.

/. is right in between Reddit, Digg and StumbleUpon.
I haven’t kept up with the news blogs, but I think folks fled /. for Digg, and are now fleeing Digg for Reddit (hence the lifeboats).
My favorite part of the map is the little invasion fleet coming out of Google Talk and heading for Skype. It’s so tiny and yet so ominous.

Along the left edge, bottom third, is an island that is the exact shape of Celebes (now Sulawesi).
Whsat word is printed in there? It’s too small for me to make out…
