I was fat because of emotional reasons. I’m not retarted or have that major of a learning disability, but enough of one to need extra time on tests.

I just wanted to clarify something. There already is a “gay high school” in New York City. It is already called the Harvey Milk School. The plan is only to expand the school to serve (I believe) up to 100 students (I think it has about 40 students now).

Maybe, instead of having this school in New York, where we don’t really need it anyway, they can set it up in PA. Right across from kputt’s house.
Kputt, your not caring what people have to say doesn’t make you right. It makes you appear incredibly stupid and pigheaded. But it doesn’t make you right.
Not all gay kids would attend the school anyway. Some kids handle the problems well. Kids who can’t handle it will have an alternative. I don’t see how that is considered segregation. It’s a chance for kids to concentrate on studies instead of saving their butt every time they walk into the bathroom.

Our church has a “recovering gay” club. It is for reformed gay men and women who have come to learn that this is not the lifestyle for them. The guy that runs it (was) gay but is now in a hetero marriage.
The reason I don’t care is because people try to throw bullcrap my way.
I’m not stupid, but I can be pigheaded, but I’m not in this case. People want to accuse me of hating gays and being prejudice against them because I stated an opinion they shouldn’t open this school because IMO Homosexuality is wrong and a sin. I believe it is an alternative lifestyle that is chosen by people to live.
As I said before, why do they get this stupid “National Coming Out Day”. If they get that, then I want a “National ADHD Day”.
I don’t know if that is a crack against me, but people, I didn’t mean to start any fights in here. I stated an opinion, a rather strong one, but I found out that people often misread posts, either because they are being single minded, or not reading the entire post.
There are a lot of things that I can fight about and never change because I’m set in my ways. I just want people to know that I don’t hate gay people because they are gay.
The fact that people really believe such nonsense, again, shows why some gay kids have such a hard time in mainstream schools. Homosexuality is no more “chosen” nor a “lifestyle” than heterosexuality is. Kputt and Isabelle, could you suddenly choose to be gay? Of course not. And, Isabelle, those people are not “recovering gays.” They are people browbeaten into denial by religious fanatics.
I am stunned that such ignorance exists in this day and age, and on a message board devoted to fighting ignorance.
It’s not ignorance. I’m not going to mention what I was going to mention because people seem to like to doubt a very important person.

I do get tired of people trying to say that because someone has a strong conservative view on something, then they are very ignorant. Half the liberal stuff I laugh at and I vote democrat.

There is no such thing as an “ex-gay” and just because your group’s leader suckered some poor woman into marrying him doesn’t mean he’s straight. That your church would waste money and time that it could be devoting to doing actual good things to fostering this lie is disgusting. That you would imply to any degree that the pain and suffering inflicted on gay youth at the hands of straights taught by people like you to hate stands, as Eve has alreasy stated, as proof of the need for this school.
And before you come here bleating that you don’t hate gay people, let me advise you that the attitude that “gay” is inferior in any way to straight is hateful. I know you will resist the idea that you harbor a hateful attitude in your heart, masked by your religious beliefs, but you do. Deal with it.
