So, my question is, since I have USB Cable connection can I connect my xbox into another usb port and should that work? If you’re not sure, would it do any damage to try? How much do network cards cost? How hard are they to install? If I totally have the wrong conception about all of this, please explain to me what I’m doing wrong.
If you can help me at all I’d be very appreciative. Thanks.
For your XBox to actually use your computer’s connection to the internet, you need a NIC (Network) Card. It sounds like you have more than one USB port for your computer, so you do have the option of buying a USB NIC Card. It might be a little slower than a traditional card, I’m not sure. I bought a NetGear card at Circuit City a few months ago for about 60 dollars. If you get a USB one, all you really have to do is plug it in. (When Microsoft’s Online network is released sometime in the fall, it will probably cost about 50 dollars for a year’s subscription, in case you want to do a price comparison)
Once you get the NIC Card installed, connect a cable from the XBox to the card, and the GameSpy Tunnel Software should handle everything else for you.
For a better illustration of how to do this, look at this site. Its for a similar program…the way to set up the hardware is the same as with Gamespy.
