Let’s leave real life in the real world. If Willow does cross over she and Fred should have a hot love affair. Mmmmmmmmmmmm… Frillow. That is of course after Kennedy gets killed in the most horrific way possible.
Ok, James Marsters stated very plainly two weeks ago that he would not join the show if someone had to lose their jobs to make room for him. I believe that CC probably wants to spend time with her family.
As for how Spike fits in…well, I have lots of ideas on that. I’ll post them after the finale airs, however.
Quick question - I’ve not watched Angel. From time to time, I’ll catch an episode or part of an episode, but not deliberately watched Angel.
This was season 4, is it being syndicated this fall (it’s about the right age, right number of episodes) so I can catch up?
Yeah, on TNT
Gosh, I hope that Willow doesn’t come to Angel. Here’s why. I think BtVS was infinitely better when Buffy was THE superhero, surrounded by normal mortals. A lot of the charm of the show was derived from Buffy’s straddling her two worlds. At night she saved the world from armageddon while sucking face with a vampire; at school she lamented about not having a prom dress. All while trying to keep her mother from knowing the truth. Great vehicle for comedy/drama. Once her normal and super-normal worlds became one, a lot of the charm was diminished, IMO.
Similarly once Willow became a full-fledged witch, her character lost a lot of the vulnerable charm that made her so appealing. She was a wonderful foil to Buffy’s strength. But they ruined her character. And in the process ruined Xander’s as well. Because in contrast to Anya, Spike and Willow, Xander was the only one left without a super power and it emasculated his character.
The Angel writers pretty much killed off all of Cordy’s charm as well, IMO, by turning her into a PTB. I’m kinda glad they’re reducing her role.
It’s not that I don’t want the characters to develop (e.g. Wesley actually learning how to fight), I just don’t want them to all turn into “superheroes.” I want Angel to be extraordinary in CONTRAST to the other characters who are not less valuable or important to the show. I don’t know how they’re going to balance THREE superheroes (Spike, Angel, and now Gunn), but I sure hope it’s not the death knell of the show.
I agree wholeheartedly. Great cast addition in Spike, no irritating whiny Connor to hate. I’m bummed about Cordy, though – she really did stand out in terms of character development, and she was great to watch as the ‘mom’ of the team.
Overall, this gives me a lot more hope about next season – after the season finale, I was a little hesitant about how the show would continue. This could be interesting.
Well damn.
Apparently, even I’m not spoiled. James informed everybody at the con that 4 different final scenes have been shot.
That sneaky Joss.
Why do you want to be spoiled anyway, pepperlandgirl? I’ve never understood that.
Because I like to know. There’s really not anything more than that. Why wait until the end of May when I can know the ending in the first few weeks of April? Why wait through the Winter Break for the Feb sweeps episodes when I can find out late Decemeber/Early January? I mean, just the thought of waiting until May to know the finale…it’s unbearable! This next week is going to kill me…which means I’m going to stay up to catch the wildfeed, which airs 2:00 AM my time on Monday morning. But it’s worth it.
FWIW, Buffy is the only show I’m spoiled for. After the not-so pleasant surprise of the AR last year, I am never, ever letting Joss get the jump on me again.
I plan to be fully spoiled for Angel next year.
Jeez, FOUR!? Heck, even the season finale/premier episode where Mr. Burns got shot on The Simpsons had only one alternate ending.
Although, to accept the alternate ending, you’d have to ignore all the Simpson DNA evidence.
AR?
The attempted rape in Seeing Red.
Depends how he’s brought to the show. Maybe he get’s turned into a human then re-vamped. Or maybe he gets to save the world at the price of his soul and turns into a sort of rehabilitated but still inherently evil Spike. Or maybe he get bashed in the head and doesn’t remember that he’s a fluffy puppy. Or maybe he just gets really, really, really bitter and cynical about Buffy and gets some of his crabbiness back.
Oo! Or maybe he comes back as the season’s big bad and shacks up with Lilah!
Salon lays into Spike as the reason for this season’s suckage:

It would be a mistake to bring Spike or Willow over to Angel. Their characters aren’t interesting anymore. I hope the writers are really thinking this through, because there is a very good chance it will ruin the show.
Bear in mind, though, that Angel is an entire series build around the two most boring characters of BtVS Season 3. A character is only as unintersting as what it’s given to do.
I think I love the guy who wrote that article on Salon.
I agree wizard. Right on. Oh, how I long for the time when Spike was snarky and fun and two or three good lines per episode. As when he was standing on the roof in Ats.
How strange. I would have thought they’d move Alexis up a notch, with Charisma MIA.
Also, there must be more women in the mix. Could Spandexia become a semi-regular? And why oh why couldn’t Dushku join? I want to see Faith in tight, low-cut jeans every week.
