NFL 2020: Divisional Round

Good win for Buffalo. Only concern is - again - the total lack of a running game. That won’t be good enough to beat the Chiefs.

Yes, good win by Buffalo. Baltimore seemed just slightly off the whole game. It felt like things were very close to going the Ravens’ way, but also that they definitely weren’t going to go their way, if that makes sense.

This game is also a great example of how small things matter, and why it’s important to maximize every little bit you can. Tucker probably makes both those kicks if they’re a couple yards closer, and the pick 6 wouldn’t have happened had Baltimore scored a play or two earlier.

Exactly right. Had Tucker made those kicks, it would have been a 1-point game at the time of the pick. And perhaps the pass wouldn’t have been thrown into tight coverage if a field goal would have given the Ravens the lead.

Killer fumble by Higgins. That’s gonna leave a mark.

I understand the rule, I think, but it’s still quite brutal.

I think the touchback is a bad rule. You can give the ball to the defense (even that I’m not sure about) but it should be at the spot of the fumble, not at the 20.

But… that safety launched with his helmet, deliberate spearing, and the only part of their bodies that made contact were the two helmets… that’s both spearing and helmet to helmet contact… and that’s what caused the fumble… that is a massive, inexplicable missed call. And it wasn’t incidental, it’s what caused the fumble.

Mayfield has been better than Mahomes this game. The Chiefs are up because their defense is better and because of the fumble/touchback, but Mayfield has thrown like 6 perfect balls into the absolute minimum window today.

That pick Mayfield threw was brutal. He’s very lucky it didn’t put this game out of reach.

Wow. Mahomes out and Browns only down by 5. Cleveland might just pull this off.

What a fucking gutsy play call by Andy Reid. 4th and inches with the game on the line and the backup QB throws a first down pass.

I wonder if Reid is that aggressive if he was still chasing his first SB win.

Would any other NFL coach call a 4th down pass with the backup QB in that situation? I was expecting a timeout and then either a QB sneak or a punt.

Well, almost time for Geriatric Bowl with Brady/Brees!

I’m picking Bucs. But might go to the wire.

Who you guys backing?

The way this postseason has gone, I’m betting on whichever team doesn’t lose their starting QB partway through the game.

Brady.

Come on Bucs. I want to see a team play a Super Bowl at its own home stadium. Hasn’t ever happened before.

Seattle wins their division but loses 20-30 against their divisional runner-up.

New Orleans wins their division but loses 20-30 against their divisional runner-up.

Boy that was some bad QB play by Brees. I think he’s done, and it’s a shame he has to go out on a stinker like that.

And the Chiefs impressed me by holding on despite losing Mahomes. Good game.

He’s retiring so he’s done, yes.

I bet the Saints thinking that the Saints defense and running game would be enough at home to carry them to the NFCCG. I wasn’t prepared for such an awful showing by Brees (along with what looked like a lot of confusion from the rest of the offense). I think the Saints and Bucs were the two worst teams still playing this weekend and that game certainly looked like a bit of a rock fight. Brady wasn’t exactly sharp either. And I don’t think it was all good defense.

If Brees hangs it up, I wonder if Payton sticks around. This team has pretty consistently under performed.
