A few years ago, I worked at games for the Chicago Blitz, a minor-league indoor team, as scoreboard operator and assistant scorekeeper. The players in that league were primarily guys who had played college ball at Division II or III schools.
A friend of mine was the primary scorekeeper, and he had done the same duty for the Blitz the prior year, when their quarterback was Juice Williams, who had been a three-year starter for the University of Illinois. Williams never even made it to an NFL training camp (he had a try-out with the Bears, but that was it), but as my friend described it, Williams was a man among boys while playing in that indoor league; he dominated the games, and was named to the league’s all-star team.
