Dallas somehow made a 1 yard kickoff return out of their own end zone, and then got stuffed for a safety on the next play.
Umm, that’s pretty bad for the Cowboys.
It’s 9-9 with the Cowboys and the Seahawks. You figure okay, 3 TDs each.
Nope. TD + Safety vs TD + Field goal + missed extra point.
DK Metcalf just made one of the all time lowlight blunders. He caught a bomb at like the 5 yard line, and apparently thought he was uncovered with no one near him, because he just casually strolled into the end zone with the ball just sort of dangling, and the DB who was with him the whole time just easily knocked it out of his hands out of the back of the endzone for a touchback.
DE - FENSE!!!
DE - FENSE!!!
Awww, who the hell am I kidding. No such thing in the NFL currently.
And, the Bears’ comeback was led by Nick Foles, after Nagy benched Trubisky in the third quarter. Quarterback controversy in Chicago!
They only started Trubisky for the season because having Nick Foles come off the bench to save your season is how you unlock his power.
In defense of Dallas, they’re not playing awful football, just below average football. I think Seattle is a potential Super Bowl contender, and the Rams might be. The Falcons are also probably better than their record indicates. They’ve competed against all three, and won one. It will probably take 3-5 games before the real Dallas/SF/LA/any NFL team really shows us who they are, for better or worse. The challenge for Mike McCarthy is making sure his team doesn’t start to have doubts about him and his coaching abilities. If Dallas can get through the first 5 games at 2-3 or 3-2, they might turn the corner. But if they start going 1 and 4, 5, 6… the pressure will start to build.
Packers get a big win on the road against the Saints. Saint’s penalties (and some lucky calls) certainly helped, but still, a good win. The Packers defense still needs a ton of work against the run (and tackling was a huge issue). Still 3-0 is a good place to be.
Yup, he got Leon Lett’d.
This is Buffalo’s time to dominate the AFC East for a few years. Brady gone, Newton won’t be good for much, Fins and Jets still basement feeders.
Closer to the Desean Jackson goal line voluntary ball drop.
A lot of people were saying their 2-0 record was meaningless because they played two soft teams. So this game with the Rams was supposed to show if they were a real contender. While I’m glad the Bills won, I have to say I feel like the Rams played a more solid game.
But no way did John Johnson have that ball.
Wow it’s tough to be a NY football fan these days. Oofa. Jones had 89 yards passing entering the 4th quarter. The entire team was so ridiculously inept that I thought at least the Jets couldn’t possibly do worse. The Jets stepped right up and said hold my beer. At least Jones throws shitty passes down the field. Not far, and not outside the numbers, but forward. Darnold throwing the ball past the line of scrimmage is cause for celebration.
Jets were 4pm, btw. (Giants 1pm, Jets 4pm, which is how it always should be.)
One of these days a ref is going to call holding against the guy blocking Khalil Mack.
But it is not this day!
Bears running back/punt returner Tarik Cohen injured his knee yesterday, and it’s believed to be an ACL injury, which would end his season.
One thing that stood out to me about Drew Brees was his slower reaction time in terms of the pocket closing in around him. There were at least two times when the pocket closed and he just reacted too late, and I noticed this in the playoff game against Minnesota last year as well.
Crazy stat from yesterday that I didn’t notice: Despite being down 16 points with less than 7 minutes to go, the Bears didn’t need to call a single timeout during their comeback.
The Bears spared the people of Chicago from a weeklong QB controversy by naming Foles today.
I don’t care but I’m glad I don’t have to see 10,000 stories about it
