Larry Fitz and Harrison surprise me.
No Michael Irvin is a huge surprise and you could make an argument that Reggie Wayne was the better player than Harrison. I understand why, but Terell Owens should be on this list.
There was a bit of a debate about Terrell Owens, with Deion Sanders wanting to know why he wasn’t on the list. I’ll leave it to others to speculate why he’s not.
If they’re going to include OJ in best RBs, they should include Owens, and his 5 1st team All-Pro awards, in best WR. Antonio Brown may have an argument too.
How 'bout Calvin Johnson?
I thought of him after I hit submit on my little bit up above. I’d pick him over Fitz. It seems like I’m against Fitz, and I’m really not, but I don’t quite think he’s deserving of “best 100 all time”.
I think the argument I heard in favor of Larry Fitzgerald is his “high level of play for an extended period of time.”
It’s nice to see Steve Largent on the list. Football seems to break down into two different eras; Bronco-Nagurski-three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust, and pass-first-and-ask-questions-later. Largent was great in the in-between years.
Agreed. To this day Steve Largent is still my all-time favorite Seahawk (though current QB Russell Wilson is a close second).
Too short of a career. Even with 3 1st team all-pros, and a transcendent 2012 season. 9 years isn’t enough without a story like Gale Sayers.
Don Maynard
George Sauer was even better, but he retired too soon (he just lost interest in it).
