NFL Coaching Carousel: 2024-2025 Edition

I wasn’t accusing him of anything. I was making a joke. I suppose I should have added “/s” at the end.

It was good natured ribbing about an obvious typo.

Well, I apologize for overreacting, then.

I still don’t think that’s a humorous thing to joke around about, but YMMV.

It’s entirely possible that my gallows humor was a little too dark in this instance.

I’m still hung up on the danger coaching staff. They don’t mess around in Atlanta I guess.

[Moderating]
Well anyway, it’s fixed. And I would have fixed the “danger”, too, except I have no idea what that was supposed to be.

My sincerest apologies. Definitely a typo. I had to manually remove it from my phone keyboard dictionary, what the hell?

Jets appear to be planning on kicking the tires on Ron Rivera and Rex Ryan. Jeezus, who is more out of original ideas, Disney films, or the Jets?

Have Woody Johnson’s sons weighed in, on Rivera and Ryan’s Madden stats?

Edit: I had forgotten that Ryan has already once been the Jets’ head coach (2009-2014). Which makes taking another look at him feel even more desperate and/or dumb.

That is insane. Or, in other words, classic Jets.

Saw the Rex Ryan story on the crawl on ESPN; is Woody actively trying to drive away what remains of the Jets fan base?

The apparent interest in bringing Ryan back reminds me of a joke by, I think, Larry Miller.

“Have you ever known someone who got divorced, and then later decided to marry the same person for a second time? That’s like taking a carton of milk out of the fridge, sniffing it, saying, ‘oooh, that’s gone bad,’ and then putting it back in the fridge. ‘Maybe it’ll be better later.’”

I mean, I don’t hate the idea. Rex coached the Jets to two consecutive AFC Championship games with Mark Sanchez as the quarterback.

For context, Parcells coached the Jets to one AFC Championship game with Vinny Testaverde in 1998.

And then in strike-shortened 1982, the Jets made it to the AFC Championship game with Walt Michaels as coach and Richard Todd at quarterback. I don’t recognize either of those names.

Other than the Namath Superbowl, that’s it. That’s the list. The Jets have made it to the conference championship a grand total of four times, and Rex Ryan is responsible for two of them, back to back.

Maybe he’s secretly a genius, and if he hires anyone else, no matter how bad, they’ll be relieved.

(I know, that would be a pretty well-kept secret.)

I think it’s great to see Rex Ryan dipping his toe back into coaching! He could be just the kick in the pants the Jets need. They’ve been wasting a talented roster by playing footsie with their opponents.

That may be all well and good, but choosing an NFL head coach is not a process to pussyfoot around with.

And thank you for reminding us all of that. :face_vomiting:

If they hire Ryan, is he going to get his tattoo changed back again?

And then proceeded to not have another winning season again.

Some people (admittedly, including myself) are calling for Indianapolis to fire HC Shane Steichen and/or GM Chris Ballard.

Fire Ballard. He should have been fired long ago.
