NFL Offseason 2022

Oh my bad guys, I was the one in control of Johnny Manziel and just spammed the “do coke” button.

When will there be a Fan Controlled Supermodel League?

That’s just OnlyFans.

He needs somebody to push a button to do that?

RIP Dwayne Haskins.

What a tragedy. So far there’s been nothing reported about an arrest in connection with the incident, I am curious about the exact circumstances of what transpired.

I’m just at the ‘da fuck?’ stage. RIP, man.

More detailed information over Haskins’ passing:

I wonder if this happened at training camp?
Dwayne may have tried to cross the highway and visit a store or restaurant.

Traffic can be deceptive. You think there’s plenty of time to cross a road. I had a few close calls during college. It’s very frustrating to need a car to get to a store across the street.

So many questions. There are almost zero good reasons to attempt to run across a 6-lane highway. Did he have a vehicle breakdown, was he trying to shortcut across the highway, was someone chasing him, what the hell?

I wouldn’t try to walk or run across a Interstate. You can’t judge distances with Cars going 70mph.

It’s bad enough on a 4 lane street with 45mph traffic.

What I read on Reddit this morning is that he, along with other Steelers players, had gotten together in Florida for informal workouts. It’s the wrong time of year for formal team practices: the “organized team activities” (informally known as “minicamp”) happen in May and June; actual training camps start in late July.

He was apparently driving to meet up with his teammates early this morning, when his car may have run out of gas, and he was walking on (perhaps trying to cross) the highway to get gas.

If your car breaks down in a live lane it can be difficult to know what to do. The safest thing to do is probably to stay in the car with your seatbelt on, but if I were a 24 year old professional athlete, I could see talking myself into thinking I could make it across.

Thank you. That makes more sense.

It’s not even safe on the shoulder of Interstates. I see news of people changing a flat. Cops get hit giving someone a ticket. Some idiot swerves onto the shoulder and hits them.

Same. It’s insane that this happened. He was so young, and this seems so random. :frowning:

ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter was the first to break the news about Haskins’ death, and, well… he worded it very poorly on Twitter.

I mean, he’s not wrong, but there’s a way to be a person.

I feel like he was more focused on trying to remind people who Haskins was than how tragic the situation is.

Which, yes, isn’t being much of a person.

This article on espn.com says that’s currently being investigated as an “open traffic homicide,” which I’m sure is just a designation used until toxicology reports on both Haskins and the driver are received, and then it’ll change to something like “accidental death” or something.

Still…RIP. Way too young.

Urban Meyer talks about recruiting Dwayne and what a great person he was.

I watched Urban’s final season at Ohio State. I knew it was a important time in sports history. I was very impressed with Dwayne in those games.

The accident apparently happened at 6:37 am, which is about 20 minutes before sunrise - definitely a risky time to be crossing an Interstate on foot.

What a tragedy.
