Why is their college such a crucial thing to know?
Because you might hear the name and say to yourself, “Hey, I remember that guy from (insert college name here)?”
Or you could say, “Hey, he went to my school and I don’t remember him?”
It’s not crucial to the game, but it’s interesting to know. In college games, they usually tell you what the player’s hometown or high school is.
It lets you know about their background–whether they came from a football powerhouse program like Miami or Nebraska or if they kinda snuck under the radar at a smaller school.
Cause college football is such a big attraction to most NFL fans as well. They also do this in NBA games, but not baseball or hockey as college hockey and baseball are not nearly as big as football and basketball. Also, most hockey and baseball players do not go right from college to the pros.
