That defensive holding call on the busted screen sums up everything that sucks about being an Eagles fan. I fucking hate refs. The same thing happens last week and Foles gets called for a grounding penalty.
Chefs fan checking in from watching that game from the front row.
Fuck.
Seriously - fuck you, Colts. Every. Single. Time.
Sproles was fucking tackled on the play. Ray Charles would have called that. You have absolutely nothing to complain about.
Forget it.
And McCoy was bear hugged on the exact same play last week. You’ll note I didn’t say it was a bad call. Or maybe you won’t, Mr. Itchy-Trigger-Finger.
Edit: Don’t forget that brees threw it in a completely different direction than his receiver, and Foles actually threw it at his and still got flagged.
Not a football watcher but I saw the end of the Colts/Chiefs game. I have a question regarding the timer in the NFL
Near the end of the game, the Colts got the ball back with about 1:55 to go on the clock and everyone was celebrating the end of the game. I know about downs, and saw them go 1, 2, and 3 downs. But after the 3rd down there was about 35 seconds left. Isn’t the clock that forces you to make a play only like 15 or 30 seconds? Why didn’t the Colts have to go for another down and why didn’t the Chiefs get the ball back with like 5 seconds left? Everyone including the coaches, players, and the cameramen swarmed onto the field with time still left on the clock!
This is starting to look like the Eagles are going to get blown out. They’ve looked pretty bad for two weeks now and they were lucky to be in the game at all at halftime.
It’s a 40 second clock, so if you have the ball after the two-minute warning and the other team has no time outs, you can effectively end the game.
Philly fans booing every injury as if the Saints are faking all of them certainly reinforces their horrible reputation.
They’ve seen a lot of “timely” injuries against them, but it’s a fine line to dance booing every injury even when stalling doesn’t actually have a benefit. I wish they wouldn’t boo, it looks terrible.
Philly fans are awful though, so it isn’t surprising.
I missed the end of the Chiefs-Colts game. . .is it true that Andy Reid actually used his last timeout coming out of the 2-minute warning? How the hell do you do something like that?
He’s done stuff like that for years, he’s always been awful with timeouts. Everything he did for Philly and the fans weren’t too upset to see him go. That’s part of the reason why. (Chad Hall, too)
Another close ending coming up.
That tightened up in a hurry (I’m only occasionally checking the score on my phone).
Even if it was only a 30-second clock, what would happen in a situation like that is, the quarterback would line up well behind the center, and when the ball is snapped, he would run in the opposite direction until the clock reached zero, and then fall on the ground. (In most cases, he would probably try to run through his own end zone for a safety, but that wouldn’t have worked here as Kansas City would get 2 points for it, and win by one point.)
Scoreboard.
Go Saints! Nice job finishing the game. First road playoff win for the Saints… nice to get that monkey off our back.
As an Eagles fan that was a terrible ending to watch. But, I still consider that a successful season. I know there are a lot of fans who consider anything other than a Super Bowl win anactual failure and that’s their right to be assholes. I feel differently. Heading into the season I was wary of Kelly as a head coach, and of the talent level the team possessed. To see them win the division and compete in the playoffs is beyond way beyond my and most people’s expectations for the season.
It’s going to be interesting to see how things go with Foles as the starter right out of training camp. In his final drive of the game tonight he certainly played as if he was the real deal. I hope that is a sign of things to come.
At this point I think I might be rooting for Seattle in the NFC. Just, because the city has never won a major sports championship. (oops. I just looked that up. Never mind. One of the best team names in sports was able to pull one down in 1979 against one of the most poorly named teams when the Supersonics beat the Bullets. oh well. Still, that was a long time ago.) I’m not sure about the AFC. I was rooting for Andy. I always thought he got a bad rap in Philly and was hoping he could turn it around and go far in the playoffs. Of course, he highlighted the criticism he really deserves in today’s game. Nice time-out, Andy. So, I don’t know who I will root for now.
Whatever. Looks like there will be lots of fun games to watch.
I wouldn’t want to be there and I don’t know if it is a good idea. But, man, the Green Bay ice game is going to be crazy interesting.
enjoy the win iiandyiiii.
Well, the Seattle Metropolitans won the Stanley Cup in 1917, but I think you can be forgiven for not knowing about that one.
Two good things happened for the 49ers today. I have no idea how the severe cold will affect the game tomorrow. Their running game is supposed to be good, but they’ve failed on short yardage situations all year. A slippery field could be favorable to the passing game like snow is. The same hard surface may favor the option.
Either way, it’ll be epic.
