NFL Preseason

Orlando Scandrick tore both his ACL and MCL in practice. Bad news for Big D.

The more Russell Wilson opens his mouth, the less I like him. His personal talks with God and discussing his Virginity with Jesus were annoying, but there’s a lot of Christian Teabowesque wackos in the league.

Now he’s endorsing Recovery Water? There’s a chance some people might believe this crap. What a complete and utter useless tool Wilson is. This clown won’t be needing recovery water in the Super Bowl this year, he can drown his sorrows in Jesus Juice.

Kind of like Glover Quin’s outlook on NFL injuries.

“I hated Jordy got hurt, but in my beliefs, and the way I believe, it was — God meant for Jordy to get hurt.”

As the article says, why even bother with player safety. Who are we to fight God’s will?!

I find it hard to believe that God would want the Patriots to win over the Seahawks. If that’s the case, what did Wilson do to enrage God?

As a Seahawks fan, I find Wilson’s off-the-field persona to be quite grating as well.

That’s true. I guess I was talking more about our societal attitude towards potential performance-enhancing drugs. I’ve tried to do layman searches into studies on the effectiveness of HGH and anabolic steroids at low dosages as a general way to improve health, but from what I could tell very little work has been done on the area. The idea of having some sort of drug to enhance fitness seems to be looked upon disapprovingly by society at large. I wonder if we’d scoff at a safe, effective HGH-like treatment that just generally improved our health because we wouldn’t be “earning it the right way”

As far as it affects the NFL - we got on the subject by saying the near-miraculous short timetable recoveries from injuries will go out the window with increased HGH testing. That hurts the product and the sport. There’s no reason we shouldn’t allow HGH for recovery if it works.

More than endorsing it, he’s personally invested in the company.

In 49ers news, teamli dickhead* and veteran outside linebacker Amhad Brooks has been indicted on a (misdemeanor) sexual battery charge. (In the same incident, brief Chicago Bear and Brooks’s erstwhile teammate Ray McDonald was charged with rape. The allegation is basically that after the victim fell unconscious in McDonald’s home, Brooks fondled and McDonald raped her. Jerks accusing her of gold digging in 3… 2… ) [/li]The 49ers are co-practicing with the Broncos before their preseason matchup, but they sent Brooks home when news broke.

We really need to get the season started so there’s actual games to discuss.

But WTF??!!! IK Enemkpali, in college, punched out a man claiming to be a female. Supposedly ‘she’ lured him there promising oral sex. He punched the deceiver (Missy Lee)in the face, knocking out two teeth. Then the deceiver tried to blackmail Enemkpali for $1000, causing a police report to be filed.

‘Missy Lee’ is now a pastor at church and demanded money from ESPN to tell his side of the story.

My God, college and NFL players find themselves in some screwy situations!

You’ve become a parody of yourself.

In what way? Did you read the article ? This story is nuttier than Manti Te’o’s phony girlfriend.

An interesting facet of the changing NFL has been the read/option.

In case anyone missed it: Terrell Suggs hits Sam Bradford after a handoff. Bradford runs a play that, by all appearances, is a zone read option play (Chip Kelly, being Chip Kelly, said it wasn’t, it was a straight handoff, nevermind it looks exactly like a read option play), and Suggs goes after him, and gets flagged.

Although the hit was flagged during the game, the NFL said that Suggs was within his rights to hit Bradford on a play like that. Not sure hitting the knees in a preseason game isn’t being a dick, but it was apparently legal.

Chip and Pete Carroll (another team that runs the read option) were a tad bit upset with the NFL for not protecting their QB. I think if they don’t want to risk the injury to the QB, they shouldn’t run the read/option, and they shouldn’t bitch about it when the rule isn’t broken. It will be interesting to see if this lessens the amount of zone read plays teams run this year.

This RG III mess just keeps getting crazier. If Cousins does anything, he’s got to start.

Granted it is with the #3 QB, but the Packers are doing horrible in offense, defense, and in special teams.

Brian

Fred Jackson cut by the Bills. I haven’t seen any Bills preseason but this is a bit of a shock.

Well, not really. He’s a 35 year old running back. If anything, the shock is that he lasted this long.

Right you are.

I don’t think it mattered what Cousins did, Gruden wants RGIII the hell out of his way. This is one of the most dysfunctional QB situations I’ve seen in a while. And I’m a Browns fan!

Creaky old men like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are better at avoiding pressure than Robert Griffin. Dude just eats pass rushers.

For the Rams, the RGIII trade just keeps getting sweeter and sweeter.

So RGIII “likes” an instagram post that refers to the “sorry ass team owner and sorry ass front office” of the Redskins, but then claims that an intern “liked” that post from his account, not him. Does that mean he has a personal intern that handles his social media accounts? Or was this a Washington Redskins intern? In either case, this one’s tough to swallow. Really hard to believe that RGIII would hand over his social media accounts to any intern.

With the Redskins its not just the players and the coaches…
Its also the GM’s wife
